Well folks, after a full year of sticking it out at the entry level, low paying, long hours, deal with insults, pay-your-dues assistant I've finally got a new job!
Sure it's as an assistant again but I'm really looking forward to it for many reasons: the dress code is relaxed, the people seem fun, the atmosphere is casual, the office is beautiful, it's close to where I currently work, we get to sit in meetings and actually contribute opinions, the work is less stressful, it's closer to my ultimate goal of producing and they have a great benefits package and increased my salary 50%! Hey if I have to eat crap, let me say it has never tasted so good!
The tricky thing now will be to keep living as I already am, and by that I mean keeping my expenses exactly the same, or possibly even reducing them. The problem with most people who get a raise either at work or at new jobs is that they increase spending to fit their new incomes. If anything, this will finish my goal of reaching my 6 month emergency fund in no time, and can start saving for a home & retirement as well as ultimately financial freedom. But for the next 2 weeks I will have to eke by on the $40 in my account until my next paycheck....
